Yes. The Output Format dropdown lets you export as JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF regardless of the size preset. The tool auto-selects a sensible default based on your uploaded file type — GIF stays GIF, PNG stays PNG — but you can override it, for example choosing JPEG for smaller file sizes on a photo that started as PNG.

For circular-crop presets like Profile Picture and Profile Display, a Show/Hide safe zone button overlays a guide showing exactly what Instagram's circular mask will crop away. Toggle it on before finalizing your profile photo so your face or logo isn't cut off at the edges once Instagram applies the circle crop.

Pick the Profile Picture preset: it crops to your face and shoulders and fills the whole frame, and the aspect-ratio and background padding options are switched off for it. Turn on the safe zone overlay to see the circular crop boundary before you commit, since anything outside the safe-zone circle gets hidden on Instagram. If your subject isn't centered in the photo, crop it first with the Crop Image tool.

This happens when Maintain aspect ratio is turned off — the photo is force-fit to the exact target dimensions instead of being scaled proportionally, which distorts faces and straight lines when the source photo's ratio doesn't match the preset. Turn Maintain aspect ratio back on and choose Blur or Color in the Background tab so the full photo fits inside the frame without warping.

It is only unavailable while a resize is running, and it becomes available again when processing finishes. Choosing Blur does not lock it; the Blur, Color, Gradient, Designs and Photo backgrounds simply apply only while Maintain aspect ratio is on, because turning it off stretches the photo to the target size.

The format is not one this tool accepts, so check the list shown on the upload panel. Or the file is not really the format its name says: renaming a file does not change what is inside it, and that is the reason a valid-looking image gets refused.

It finds the largest face, crops to head and shoulders and fills the whole 320 × 320 square. If no face is found, the whole photo is framed instead. Maintain Aspect Ratio and the Background tab do not apply to this preset, and the safe-zone circle on the preview shows what Instagram's round display keeps.

The presets on this page are for Instagram. For a Facebook cover or profile picture, use Facebook Resize, which has Cover Photo (1640 × 664) and Profile Picture (800 × 800) presets.
