The quality slider runs from 20 to 100 and controls how much the JPEG compresses fine detail. For scanned text documents, 70-80 keeps text sharp at a fraction of the TIFF's size; for scanned photos or fine art, use 85-95 to preserve tonal gradients and avoid visible blocking.

Use the background fill color swatch under Settings — JPEG has no alpha channel, so any transparent region in the source is painted with this color, white by default. Change it to match your document background (or your website's background color) if you're embedding the result on a colored page.
