Frequently asked questions

Can it read both model and serial numbers?

Yes. It asks the OCR extractor for manufacturer, model number, serial number, asset tag, barcode text, manufacture date, and location, then places the results in separate editable columns.

Does it scan the barcode itself?

The scanner extracts printed barcode text when it is visible and can use the browser barcode detector where supported. Because browser support and label quality vary, always compare the result with the label.

What photos work best?

Use a sharp, well-lit, straight-on photo with the label filling most of the frame. Avoid glare, motion blur, steep angles, and several labels in one image.

Can I correct a wrong character?

Yes. Every extracted cell is editable before export or saving. Low-confidence values are visibly marked for extra review.

Where can I use the CSV?

Open it in Excel or Google Sheets, or import it into inventory, CMMS, maintenance, insurance, and accounting systems that accept CSV.

Does Pixoate guarantee the extracted numbers?

No OCR system is error-free. Pixoate speeds up transcription and highlights uncertainty, but the user must verify critical identifiers against the physical label.
