Count pills and tablets from a photo

Spread the tablets on a tray, take one photo, and AI counts every pill with a dot on each — faster than a counting tray and double-checkable. Built for pharmacy and clinic stock work.

Frequently Asked Questions

On a tray photo with even light, accuracy is high even when tablets touch — the AI uses density counting rather than shape detection, so clusters don't merge into one. Every pill gets a dot, so a quick glance verifies the total. For regulated counts, treat it as a fast double-check alongside your standard procedure.

quality

Mark 1–3 example pills by dragging a box around them and the AI counts exactly that item, ignoring everything else in the frame. Every counted item gets a dot on the image so you can verify the total at a glance.

usage

Yes — the engine counts ANY repeated item. If the tray has more than one medication on it, mark 1–3 examples of the one you're counting and it counts only that one.

usage

Yes — counting photos is free with no signup for everyday use. Photos are uploaded only to process and are deleted automatically afterwards; we never keep or share them.

privacy

Similar items is built for a tray of one medication — the standard pharmacy tablet count — and uses density counting so touching tablets don't merge into one. Distinct objects switches to object detection so a tray with several different medications can have each one recognised separately. Auto lets the tool choose, but for a mixed tray, switching to Distinct objects (or marking examples of one pill at a time) gives a cleaner per-medication split.

usage

Sensitivity (Low to High) sets how confident the AI must be before marking a tablet. Raise it toward High if low-contrast white or pale pills on a light tray are being under-counted; lower it toward Low if shadows or the tray's texture are being picked up as extra tablets. A plain, matte tray with even overhead light needs the least adjustment.

technical

Result overlay controls how the count is marked on the photo — Dots + heatmap places a dot on every tablet and shows a density map, Dots only keeps the marked image clean for a regulated-count record, and Heatmap only shows concentration without individual markers. Ignore small detections raises the minimum size counted, which is useful for excluding capsule fragments, dust or tablet debris on the tray from the total.

features

Yes — switch Single photo to Bulk audit to upload a photo of every tray you need counted. Each is counted using your current Sensitivity setting, a grand total across all trays is shown, and each tray's count is added automatically to the tally sheet, speeding up a full pharmacy or clinic stock check.

features

Set Counting mode to Distinct objects so different tablet shapes and colours aren't merged into one count, keep Sensitivity moderate to High for pale tablets on a light tray, and set Ignore small detections low so partial tablets aren't dropped from a regulated count. Mark 1–3 examples of each medication in turn and log every pass as its own tally row for a documented per-medication total.

tips

Counting a single tray photo is always free with no signup. Bulk audit — queuing a whole batch of tray photos into one grand total — is a Premium feature. Signing in lets you save a stock-take to your account for free, up to 3 saved counts, with unlimited saved history on Premium.

pricing

pricing

Yes — each tally row's Count number can be edited directly if a manual recount finds a different total, not just the row's Label. A remove button (×) deletes a single tray's row, and Clear tally resets the whole sheet for a new stock check.

usage

Opening a saved stock-take with Open in tally replaces the entire current tally sheet — it does not merge the saved rows into what you're currently counting. Export, save or note down your current tally first if you still need it, since there's no undo once a saved session loads in.
