Similar items runs a density engine ideal for a pile of round log ends of roughly the same species and cut, which is the typical timber-yard photo. Distinct objects switches to object detection so a mixed load — different diameters, species, or logs alongside other stacked timber — can be told apart. Auto is a safe default that chooses between the two depending on the photo.

Sensitivity (Low to High) controls how confident the AI must be before marking a log end. Raise it toward High if darker bark or shadowed ends near the edge of the pile are being missed; lower it toward Low if bark texture, knots or cracks within a single log end are being split into extra counts. Shooting the pile face straight-on in flat light reduces how much you need to adjust it.

Result overlay sets how logs are marked on the photo — Dots + heatmap for a per-log dot plus a density map, Dots only for a cleaner annotated image for a haulage record, Heatmap only to see where the pile is densest. Ignore small detections raises the minimum size counted, so small branch stubs, offcuts or gaps between logs at the pile's edge aren't picked up as extra logs.

Yes — switch Single photo to Bulk audit to upload a photo of every truck load or yard stack at once. Each is counted using your current Sensitivity setting, a combined grand total is shown, and every stack's count feeds automatically into the tally sheet, saving a re-count per delivery.

Add each stack's count to the tally sheet as you photograph it, labelling rows like "Stack B — pine", then export the full inventory as a CSV or a branded PDF report for the mill or haulier. Sign in to save the stock-take to your account and share a read-only link with the yard team.

Set Counting mode to Distinct objects so the range of diameters doesn't get merged or split incorrectly, keep Sensitivity moderate to High if some ends are in shadow at the back of the load, and raise Ignore small detections a little to drop stray bark and offcuts from the total. Mark examples of one size class at a time if you need a per-diameter breakdown in the tally sheet.

Tap Mark example items, drag a box around 1-3 log ends that represent the size or species you want counted, then tap Done marking. Each marked box can be removed individually with its Remove example button, and Clear examples resets the picker so you can re-mark a different diameter class or species on the same photo before adding each pass to the tally.
