About the role
Pixoate is building one of the fastest-growing AI-powered creative platforms. Our mission is to make professional photo, PDF and document editing accessible through AI. Every day, users around the world rely on us to remove backgrounds, restore photos, upscale images, edit PDFs and much more.
As a Senior Software Engineer you'll help design, build and scale products that serve thousands of users, working with a modern stack and real AI.
Tech stack — Backend: Node.js, Express, TypeScript, REST APIs, JWT, Redis, BullMQ. Frontend: Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, TypeScript. Data: MongoDB, Redis. Infra: Docker, Linux, Nginx, GitHub Actions, PM2, Fastly CDN, Cloudflare, AWS/Hetzner. AI & media: image processing, OCR, background removal, upscaling, generative-AI integration.
We're looking for engineers who enjoy solving difficult technical problems, writing clean code and taking ownership. You should be comfortable working independently while collaborating with a small, fast-moving team.

Eligible locations
This is a fully remote role. Applicants must be based in the United States, the United Kingdom, or Australia.
What you will do
- Design, build and maintain scalable backend services
- Develop high-performance web applications with Next.js and React
- Build secure REST APIs for the frontend and third-party integrations
- Design scalable MongoDB data models
- Optimize application performance and reliability
- Integrate AI models and image-processing pipelines
- Collaborate closely with product, design and engineering
- Review code, mentor developers and uphold engineering standards
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system stability
- Take part in architecture discussions and technical planning
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of software development experience
- Strong JavaScript and TypeScript skills
- Excellent Node.js and Express knowledge
- Advanced React and Next.js experience
- MongoDB database design
- REST API development
- Git and collaborative workflows
- Docker and Linux fundamentals
- Strong debugging skills
- Understanding of scalable system architecture
