The detector handles single-level merged headers and most sub-header rows. For deeply nested formats (banking statements with multi-row balances) you may need a small manual cleanup. Preview the output in the browser before downloading, and re-snap a tighter crop if a particular column gets merged with its neighbour.

Uploads are processed in a temporary working area and automatically deleted within minutes. We never use your files for training, never share them with third parties, and never add watermarks. Default uses PaddleOCR's PP-Structure model, the strongest all-round table detector, so leave it selected for most receipts and invoices. Table AI (beta) is a newer experimental engine worth trying if Default misreads a tricky layout with merged headers. Engine 1 and Engine 2 are faster general-purpose OCR passes that skip dedicated table-structure detection, so they suit simple grids better than complex financial statements.

Open the Settings panel and use the Language picker to choose the language of the text inside your table (English is the default). Picking the right language improves recognition of accented letters, non-Latin scripts and locale-specific currency symbols, then click Re-run conversion to regenerate the spreadsheet with the new setting.

Yes — after conversion, the extracted table appears in an editable grid with low-confidence cells highlighted so you can spot likely OCR errors at a glance. Click any cell to correct it, or use Reset to restore the original OCR output; only your edited version is what gets written into the downloaded .xlsx.

If the layout is unusual or has nested sub-headers, switch to Table AI (beta); if recognition still looks weak, review the confidence-highlighted grid and manually correct any flagged cells before downloading.

Yes — the editable grid has an Add row button beneath the table and a trash-can icon on each row, letting you insert a line the OCR merged into its neighbour or delete a phantom row caused by a ruled border or stray mark. Structural changes like these are written into the downloaded .xlsx together with any cell text you fix, and Reset reverts both back to the original OCR output in one click.
