A rejected property photo can be caused by its file format, colour mode or byte size as well as its dimensions. Work through those checks separately. This workflow helps Australian property teams prepare a consistent set while keeping the original property detail available for review.

1. Start with a compatible source
REA’s current image guide lists JPEG, PNG and static GIF, with restrictions for floorplan GIFs. Convert a phone HEIC photo to JPG when needed. Keep an untouched original and make sure the result opens and has the correct orientation.

The checked guide recommends 2000 × 1500 pixels, a 4:3 ratio. In Resize Image, set the intended dimensions and preserve the room’s proportions. Use an appropriate crop or canvas fill for a different source ratio; avoid stretching windows, furniture or walls.

The checked guide specifies RGB colour and a maximum 20MB per image. Compress only if needed for your destination or handoff. Inspect the exported file and the actual listing gallery, then confirm the image order and property association.

- Open the published gallery and inspect wide, portrait and floorplan images in their actual placements.

Is 2000 × 1500 the only accepted image size?
No. It is the recommendation in the guide checked for this workflow; REA also lists other accepted ratios. Use the current destination requirements and a composition that preserves the property.
Does a successful resize guarantee my listing photo will be accepted?
No. File format, colour mode, byte size, content and the upload workflow also matter. Verify the current official requirements and inspect the submitted image.
