Compare Pixoate with Zety
Zety is a polished resume builder, but downloads sit behind a subscription. Pixoate builds an ATS-friendly resume with a free PDF download — editable DOCX is the only paid step.
Pixoate tools for the same jobs
Zety typically lets you build for free but charges a subscription to download (often auto-renewing). Pixoate's resume builder downloads as PDF free; editable DOCX export is Premium (or one credit). Verify current Zety pricing and renewal terms on their site.

Build an ATS-friendly resume and download it as a PDF
To build a resume online, fill in a profile, work experience, education and skills beside a live preview, pick a template and build a clean A4 PDF made of real text in a single column. Your work is saved on your device as you type, so you can come back, switch templates and download again without retyping.
Fill in the sections of your resume
Start with Profile: full name, job title, email, phone, location, website and LinkedIn, then a Professional summary of 3 or 4 lines. Under Experience, add one entry per role with Company, Period and Achievements, one bullet per line, starting each with an action verb and a number where you have one. Education and Skills follow, with skills separated by commas. Experience entries can be dragged into a new order or duplicated.
Choose a template, color, font and spacing
The Design tab has 3 templates, Classic, Modern and Minimal, all in a single column, so switching keeps everything you typed. Pick an accent color from the presets or type your own, set the font to Sans, Serif or Mono, and choose Compact, Normal or Relaxed spacing. Compact helps when a resume spills a few lines onto a second page.
Import an old resume and keep several versions
To start from a file, open the Saved tab, select Import an old resume and choose a PDF or DOCX. The builder fills in what it can detect, and you review each field afterward. In the same tab, name a version and save it, for example one tailored to each job. Saved versions and your working copy stay in this browser, so download the PDF when you want a copy elsewhere. When the old resume exists only as a scan or a photo, read its text out of the image and paste it into the sections.
Download the PDF or a Word file
Select Build my resume, then choose See result to open the download page. The PDF is an A4 document with live text, so it can be searched and copied, and a long resume continues onto extra pages. Word (DOCX) is a Premium download, or one credit on a signed-in account, and suits employers who ask for an editable file.
Switching from Zety: what you keep and what changes
Your wording comes with you: copy each section across, or import the PDF or DOCX you have. Here the design range is 3 single-column templates, with no photo, icons or sidebar, and the builder does not write content for you. Before you apply, read the PDF once for dates and spelling, and keep one version per job under Saved.
Check the PDF before you send it
- Select a word in the PDF to confirm the text is real text and not a picture.
- Write every date in the same style, such as Jan 2021 to Present, across all roles.
- Use the same terms the job posting uses for your skills, where they are true.
- Compress the PDF if an application form limits the file size.
- If the application wants one file, merge the resume with a cover letter.
FAQ
Is Pixoate a free Zety alternative?
Yes — build an ATS-friendly resume and download it as a PDF for free. Editable DOCX export is Premium or one credit. There is no auto-renewing subscription just to download.
Are the resumes ATS-friendly?
Yes. The templates use clean, single-column-friendly structure and standard headings so applicant tracking systems can parse them.
Can I import a resume I built somewhere else?
Yes, if you have it as a PDF or DOCX file. Open the Saved tab and select Import an old resume, and the builder fills in the details it can detect. Review every field afterward, because imported layouts vary and some entries can land in the wrong place.
What page size is the PDF?
A4. The page size is fixed, so the builder cannot produce US Letter, and a long resume continues onto extra pages instead of being cut off. Check how the file prints if you plan to send paper copies.
Can I build a resume in a language other than English?
Only partly. The PDF handles Latin letters, including accented ones such as é, ü and ñ, but characters from other scripts and emoji are left out of it, and the built-in section headings print in English. Read the finished file once. The Word (DOCX) download keeps text exactly as typed, but it is a Premium download.
Will my resume still be there if I close the tab?
Yes, in the same browser. The builder autosaves your working copy as you type and keeps named versions under Saved. Both live only on this device, so another browser or cleared site data will not have them. Download the PDF to keep a copy elsewhere.
How do I get the Word version of my resume?
Choose Word (DOCX) under Download format in the Design tab, then build the resume. The Word file is a Premium download, or one credit on a signed-in account, and keeps your text as you typed it. The PDF download has no payment step.
