Change Product Color with AI

Generative output can vary; review the full result before publishing

Product lines live and die by colorway decisions, and rendering every option used to mean a designer's week. This direction recolors your product photo — body color changed, with the AI asked to keep the logo, label, and material finish — producing the colorway grid for line planning, listings, and crowdfunding pages from one photograph.

Building a colorway set from one product photograph

Photograph the physical product once, as well as you can: plain backdrop, soft light, label facing the camera. Every colorway inherits that photo's angle and shadows, so a weak original produces a weak set. Then write one instruction per color, naming the part that changes, such as "bottle body in matte sage, cap and label unchanged."

With Premium, the same instruction can run across several photos of the product, such as the front, the back and a detail shot, in one batch of up to 60 images, returned as a ZIP. Keep the wording identical between runs so the shade stays consistent from angle to angle.

Accuracy is the line between a mockup and a misleading listing. Before you show a color as purchasable, compare the preview with a real sample of that color, and reshoot the real product once it exists. Marketplaces often require the main image to show the actual item, so check their image rules. Labels, ingredient text and logos should read exactly as on the physical pack; reject any version where they shifted. To present the set, arrange the colorways into one grid.

Frequently asked questions

Are recolored variants honest to use in listings?
For variants you genuinely sell, showing accurate recolors is standard practice — shoot the physical hero once, present true-to-product colorways. The line is color accuracy: the shipped teal must match the listed teal, so verify against a real sample.
Will the logo and label survive the color change?
The prompt asks the AI to keep them — brand marks changing color with the body is the classic mockup failure. Check label edges in the result; clean edges there are the difference between a mockup and a repaint.
What should I review in a Product result?
Check the subject, product geometry, colors, labels, logos, identity-relevant details, shadows, and edges against the source. Reject any output that changes a factual detail.
What rights checks apply to a Product client project?
Use only source material and references you have rights to, follow the destination platform rules, and obtain any required person or property permissions. Generated output still needs a human accuracy and rights review.
