Generative output can vary; review the full result before publishing
Candles are sold twice — the vessel by day, the glow by night — and the listing needs both. This direction stages your candle in either mood: crisp daylight scenes or warm evening settings. The flame is whatever your photo shows — shoot it lit for the evening version and unlit for the daylight one.

Candles: lit or unlit, the flame comes from your photo
The AI cannot light a candle. The wick, the flame and the glow on the wax are all part of the product, and the AI is asked to keep the product as photographed, so an unlit candle is likely to stay unlit in every scene. For a glowing evening image, light the candle, dim the room and expose for the flame, then generate a dim, warm setting around it.
That means two shoots for a full listing: one unlit in daylight with the label crisp, one lit in low light. When you write the direction for the lit version, keep the surroundings dark, for example 'dark wood side table, dim room, warm low light'; a bright generated scene around a glowing flame looks wrong because the light on the vessel will not match.
Glass vessels show the background through the wax and the glass, so shoot both versions against plain backdrops. For a deeper evening mood, see the dark and moody look, or build a branded candle scene for campaigns.

Frequently asked questions
- Lit or unlit for the main listing photo?
- Unlit label-forward for the marketplace grid, lit mood for the gallery's second slot — the grid needs product identification, the gallery sells the evening. Shoot one photo lit and one unlit; the scene does not light or snuff the wick.
- What makes a lit candle scene believable?
- The falloff — warm light dying realistically into shadow, a soft pool on the surface beneath. An evenly bright "lit" scene betrays itself instantly; darkness around the flame is what makes the flame.
- What should I review in a Candle result?
- Check the subject, product geometry, colors, labels, logos, identity-relevant details, shadows, and edges against the source. Reject any output that changes a factual detail.
- What rights checks apply to a Candle client project?
- Use only source material and references you have rights to, follow the destination platform rules, and obtain any required person or property permissions. Generated output still needs a human accuracy and rights review.
