iLovePDF alternative: merge, split, compress, convert and sign PDFs online

If you are looking for an iLovePDF alternative, test these jobs first: joining files, pulling pages out, shrinking a file for email, turning a PDF into Word or Excel, and signing or filling a document. Each job is its own page that opens in your browser. You add a file, choose a setting, run it and download the result, so nothing needs installing. The sections below say what each tool does, where it stops and what to check before you move a routine over.

Merge PDF files and split a PDF into separate files

To combine several PDFs in the order you choose, add 2 to 20 files, or up to 10 before you sign up. Each file appears with a first-page thumbnail and a page count, you drag the files into order and select Merge my PDFs. Pages are copied across unchanged, but document bookmarks are not carried into the new file. To change the order of pages inside one document, rearrange its pages in Organize PDF first.

Going the other way, pull pages out or cut a PDF into parts. Under Split by, Page ranges accepts entries such as 1-3, 5, 8-10, and the other modes are Every N pages, One per page and By file size. A result with several parts arrives as a ZIP.

Compress a PDF so it fits an email or upload limit

The Compression level setting has 4 choices: Screen (smallest), E-book, Printer (300 DPI) and Prepress (largest). After you make the PDF smaller, the page shows Before and After sizes. It returns the smaller of the compressed copy and your original, so the result is not larger than the file you uploaded. There is no field for an exact target size, so try a smaller level when the file is still over your limit.

Convert PDF to Word, Excel or PowerPoint, and Word to PDF

PDF to Word asks what matters most. Edit the content rebuilds supported text and tables as editable Word content, and Keep the exact appearance places each page in the document as a picture, which also suits scans. PDF to PowerPoint offers the same pair as Edit slide content and Keep exact appearance. To turn a PDF into an editable Word file, start with the first mode and check the layout afterward.

PDF to Excel detects tables and shows them in a grid you can correct. Saving the workbook is a separate export step: Premium or credits are required. Word to PDF accepts DOC, DOCX, ODT and RTF files and has no settings.

Edit, sign, fill and watermark a PDF

To change the text of a PDF or add text, images and shapes, use PDF Editor, which also redacts content and reorders pages. To add a signature to a PDF, draw it, type it in a handwriting style or upload an image, then add a date, a line of text or a stamp. The signature is a visible image placed on the page, not a certificate-based digital signature. Fill PDF Forms completes the text, checkbox, dropdown, radio and list fields of a fillable PDF and can flatten them, and Watermark PDF stamps text such as CONFIDENTIAL or DRAFT on every page.

An alternative to iLovePDF: moving a PDF routine over

Your documents come along unchanged, because each tool starts from the PDF or Word file you already have and leaves your original untouched. Here every job has its own page, a single file needs no account, and running many files at once is a Premium feature. The comparison table above lists where the two toolkits differ, so check your own routine against it before you switch.

Before you move a routine across

  • Open the merged PDF and confirm the files landed in the order you intended.
  • After PDF to Word, scan the fonts, tables and page breaks.
  • Remove the password from a protected PDF first, because signing and form filling refuse protected files.
  • Keep the original file until you have checked the result.

FAQ

Is Pixoate a free iLovePDF alternative?

Yes. Pixoate lets you process, preview and download core PDF results without an account. Files are processed over HTTPS and removed after temporary retention.

Do my PDFs get uploaded to a server?

Most Pixoate tools process your file on our secure server over HTTPS and remove it under our Security policy — never shared or sold. A handful of text and developer utilities (formatters, hashers, encoders, the QR and color tools) run entirely in your browser. Each tool page discloses which mode it uses.

Can Pixoate convert PDF to Word and back?

Yes — Pixoate has PDF to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, plus Word/Excel/PowerPoint to PDF, delivered as standard Office files or PDFs. Complex layouts, fonts and tables can shift, so check the result before you send it.

Which other PDF tools are there besides merge, split and compress?

There are separate tools for rotating pages, rearranging and deleting pages, adding or removing a password, adding page numbers, cropping pages, flattening form fields and pulling images out of a PDF. The PDF tools page lists every one of them.

Can I edit the text inside a PDF instead of converting it?

Yes. PDF Editor changes existing text and also adds text, images, signatures and shapes, and it can redact content permanently. Edited text is set in a standard typeface rather than the original embedded font, so check how the changed lines look before you send the file.

How many PDFs can I merge at once, and how large can they be?

You can merge 2 to 20 PDFs in one run, or up to 10 before you sign up. Each file has to fit the upload size for your plan, and the combined size of the files is checked as well. For a very large set, merge it in smaller groups and then merge the results.

Can I process a whole folder of PDFs in one go?

Premium has a batch mode for several PDF tools, including Compress PDF, Split PDF, Sign PDF, Watermark PDF and PDF to Word. It takes up to 60 files, or 200 on Pro, applies one setting to all of them and returns a ZIP. Merge PDF joins files into one document, so it is not a batch mode.

Is a signature added with Sign PDF a digital signature?

It is a visible electronic signature: an image of your signature, date or stamp placed on the page. It does not add a certificate, check who signed or create a signature field. Whether a recipient accepts it depends on the document and the rules that apply to it.

Which iLovePDF alternatives cover editing and splitting PDFs?

Pixoate covers both jobs itself. PDF Editor changes existing text and adds text, images, shapes and signatures, and Split PDF cuts a document by page ranges, every N pages, one per page or by file size. Other PDF toolkits exist too, so try a few on your own file before you choose.

Is there an iLovePDF alternative free to use for one-off PDF jobs?

Yes for single files. Merge, split, compress, sign, fill, watermark and converting to or from Word each work on one document without an account. Saving a PDF to Excel is the exception, because the workbook export asks you to sign in. Many files in one run and larger uploads are Premium features.

Is this an i love pdf alternative that covers the same core jobs?

For the everyday jobs, yes: merge, split, compress, PDF to Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Word to PDF, sign, fill forms and watermark each have a page, and the sections above describe the controls. The comparison table on this page lists where the two toolkits differ.
