Settings
- ColorsSliderRange: 2–256 · Default: 128
- Sets how many colors the compressed GIF keeps in its palette; fewer colors mean a smaller file, but very low values can cause visible banding.
- Compression effortSliderRange: 1–10 · Default: 7
- Controls how hard the encoder works to find savings; higher effort usually produces a smaller file but takes longer to process.
- Lossy levelSliderRange: 0–32 · Default: 0
- Allows small pixel differences between frames to be reused, shrinking busy animations dramatically; leave at 0 (shown as off) to skip this extra optimization.
- ScaleSliderRange: 10–100% · Default: 100%
- Resizes the GIF to a percentage of its original pixel dimensions; scaling below 100% cuts file size sharply on top of color reduction.

Upload your GIF and it is re-encoded with a smaller color palette and optional lossy inter-frame optimization. Every frame, the loop setting and the per-frame delays are carried over from the original, so the compressed GIF plays exactly the same — it is only the file size that changes. You can preview the result before downloading.
generalIt depends on the source GIF. Dropping the palette from 256 colors to 64 or 32 typically saves 30-60%, and raising the lossy level lets similar pixels be reused between frames, which shrinks busy animations dramatically. Scaling the GIF below 100% reduces the pixel dimensions too. The before and after sizes are shown so you can tune settings until the file fits your target.
technicalGIFs store a color palette of up to 256 colors — the colors slider rebuilds that palette with fewer entries, which is a primary control for file size. The lossy slider sets how much per-pixel error is allowed when reusing data between frames: 0 keeps frames pixel-perfect, higher values trade a little visual fidelity for a much smaller file.
technicalYou can upload GIFs up to 11 MB on Free, 50 MB with Premium or 120 MB with Pro. Larger animations take a little longer to re-encode because every frame is processed, but the tool handles long, high-frame-count GIFs. If your GIF is over the limit, try scaling it down or trimming it first.
generalYour GIF is processed on our secure servers over HTTPS and removed under our Security policy. We do not sell your files or share them with third parties. The compressed result is available for download for a short window and then removed as well.
privacyYes — Pixoate supports batch and bulk processing. Switch to Batch mode, add up to 60 GIFs on Premium or 200 on Pro, set your options once, and every GIF is processed with the same settings before you download a single ZIP. Bulk processing is a Premium feature; the output uses the same quality and settings as single mode.
featuresYes — with bulk processing you configure the settings a single time and they apply to every item in the batch — up to 60 GIFs on Premium or 200 on Pro. There is no need to repeat the setup per item, and Temporary uploaded and generated files are processed securely and deleted automatically.
usageAlmost always one of three things. The file is over the 11 MB free upload limit — Premium takes 50 MB and Pro 120 MB. The format is not one this tool accepts, so check the list shown on the upload panel. Or the file is not really the format its name says: renaming a file does not change what is inside it, and that is the reason a valid-looking image gets refused.
troubleshootingCropping, rotating, resizing and framing keep your original pixels — quality loss almost always comes from somewhere else. The two usual causes are enlarging a small image past the resolution it actually has, and re-saving a JPG over and over, because each save throws away a little more. Start from the largest original you still have, and export PNG when the image contains text, screenshots or flat color.
troubleshootingGIF Compressor supports free standard use within the published processing allowances. Free downloads are clean — no watermark. No signup is required for standard tool use. Photo effects and AI edits have a web-size limit on Free, with the original-resolution result available through Premium or one credit. Crop, resize, rotate, compress and convert stay full size. Premium supports batches of up to 60 files, with the applicable plan limits shown before processing.
pricingNo — GIF Compressor runs in the browser on desktop and phone. There is nothing to install, no trial to start, and no license to buy before you can see whether it does what you need. Try it on the file you are actually stuck with rather than a sample.
troubleshootingHow GIF Compressor helps you get it done
Real problems it solves every day — for businesses, creators, and everyday tasks. Find the use case that fits you and start.
Fit Discord and Slack upload limits
Chat platforms cap upload sizes for free users. Reduce colors and add a touch of lossy compression to squeeze a reaction GIF under the limit without visibly changing how it plays.
Speed up web pages that embed GIFs
A multi-megabyte GIF can dominate a page's load time. Compressing it — often by more than half — improves Core Web Vitals and mobile experience while keeping the same animation.
Send GIFs over email and messaging apps
Email attachments and messaging apps often reject or downscale large files. Compress the GIF first so it sends quickly and plays inline on the recipient's device.
Shrink marketing banners and product demos
Animated banners and short product-demo GIFs are frequently size-capped by ad networks and marketplaces. Tune the color count and scale until the file meets the spec.
