This tool sets the area with four numbers instead: Left, Top, Width and Height, measured in pixels from the top-left corner. Enter them, select Crop GIF, and the preview plays the cropped loop so you can adjust the numbers and run it again.

Make Width equal to Height, for example 400 and 400, then position the square with Left and Top. The values must fit inside the original size shown in the Crop panel, so choose a side no larger than the shorter edge of your GIF.

Cropping changes the framed area only, and every frame, the loop setting and the frame timing stay as they were. To build a shorter animation, make a new GIF from fewer pictures in the GIF maker.

Cropping one GIF at a time does not need Premium, and the result is kept at web size, so a longer side above that size is scaled down. Cropping many GIFs in one batch and getting them back as a ZIP is a Premium feature.
