Frequently Asked Questions

Upload your file and pick the target format: JPG for photos, PNG for transparency, WebP for smaller web assets, GIF for animations, or SVG for scalable graphics. The converter keeps resolution intact and outputs a high-quality file that's ready for websites, social media, or print without needing desktop software. Useful for businesses, e-commerce, and digital marketing.

usage

Use JPG for photographs, PNG for graphics with sharp edges or transparency, WebP for modern browsers where you want small files with great quality, and SVG for scalable logos and graphics. GIF supports simple animations, but for still images, the other formats typically look better at smaller sizes.

technical

Converting to a lossy format like JPG can slightly reduce quality, while lossless PNG preserves details. Our converter uses balanced settings to minimize artifacts, so your exports look clean. You can always re-convert from your original if you want to test alternatives. Useful for businesses that require high-quality visuals.

quality

Yes. When converting a transparent PNG to JPG, choose a background color (like white) so edges look clean and professional. This is useful for marketplaces and CMS platforms that don't support transparency but require consistent white backgrounds for product photos.

features

Yes. The PNG to JPG, JPG to PNG, WebP, GIF, and SVG converter runs on our secure servers. We delete uploads automatically after processing and never add watermarks. Conversions are fast, which helps businesses quickly prepare assets for blogs, ecommerce stores, and social media without privacy concerns.

privacy

No. It keeps your resolution and pixel dimensions unchanged unless you resize separately. This ensures your converted files remain sharp at the same size, maintaining layout integrity for websites, print templates, and digital ads that rely on consistent measurements.

technical

Switch to Batch mode, add up to 60 images with Premium or 200 with Pro, pick JPG (or PNG, WebP, AVIF or GIF) as the target, then download every converted file in a single ZIP. A single conversion can be completed and downloaded without creating an account. It is the fastest way to turn a folder of iPhone HEICs or mixed photos into web-ready JPGs in one pass.

usage

You can convert from JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP, ICO, TIFF, HEIC/HEIF and even camera RAW files (CR2, NEF, ARW and more), then output JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF or GIF. Hard formats like HEIC and RAW are decoded on our servers, so you do not need any desktop codec installed.

features

80-90% keeps photos visually lossless for web and social use while shrinking the file size noticeably; drop to 60-70% for thumbnails or email attachments where file size matters more than fine detail, and use 95-100% only for print or further editing. The quality slider only appears for JPEG, WebP and AVIF because PNG and GIF are lossless formats with no quality trade-off to make.

quality

AVIF is the newest format and typically produces the smallest file size at a given quality level, making it a great pick for modern websites that want the fastest load times. Stick with JPEG or WebP if the image needs to open in older software, some email clients or design tools that don't yet support AVIF.

technical

Convert to WebP at around 85% quality for the smallest file size with sharp detail on modern storefronts, or JPEG at 85-90% if your platform doesn't support WebP uploads. For a whole product catalog, switch to Batch mode, set the format and quality once, then convert every photo and download them all as a single ZIP instead of converting one at a time.

tips

No — JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF are all single-frame formats, so converting an animated GIF into any of them keeps only its first frame as a still image. Converting GIF to GIF here also outputs one still frame rather than re-encoding the original animation, so keep your original file if you need to preserve the motion.

technical

PNG is a lossless format, so converting a photographic JPEG to PNG can't shrink the file the way JPEG's compression does — it typically comes out noticeably larger even though nothing looks different. If file size matters more than pixel-perfect accuracy, keep photos in JPEG or WebP and use the Quality slider to balance size against sharpness, and save PNG for graphics, screenshots or anything that needs transparency.

quality

You can open Batch mode, queue files and see a live before/after preview of the first image. Running the full batch and downloading its ZIP is Premium. In Single image mode, process and download one result without creating an account.

pricing

This converter changes image formats — JPG, PNG, WEBP, AVIF and GIF. To convert an image to PDF, use our dedicated Image to PDF tool. Both tools process, preview and download the standard result without an account. Temporary files are deleted automatically.

usage

Extracting words from a picture needs OCR rather than a format change. Use our free Image to Text tool to convert an image to text — it reads photos, screenshots and scanned documents and gives you editable, copyable text. Keep this image converter for changing file types, such as converting HEIC, PNG or WEBP images to JPG.

technical

Use our ICO Converter: it converts any common image (PNG, JPG, WEBP, SVG, HEIC and more) to a Windows .ico file with multiple embedded sizes from 16 to 256 pixels. Preview and download without creating an account.

usage

Yes — Pixoate supports batch and bulk processing. Switch to Batch mode, add up to 60 images on Premium or 200 on Pro, set your options once, and every image is processed with the same settings before you download a single ZIP. Bulk processing is a Premium feature; the output uses the same quality and settings as single mode.

features

Yes — with bulk processing you configure the settings a single time and they apply to every item in the batch — up to 60 images on Premium or 200 on Pro. There is no need to repeat the setup per item, and Temporary uploaded and generated files are processed securely and deleted automatically.

usage

Almost always one of three things. The file is over the 11 MB free upload limit — Premium takes 50 MB and Pro 120 MB. The format is not one this tool accepts, so check the list shown on the upload panel. Or the file is not really the format its name says: renaming a file does not change what is inside it, and that is the reason a valid-looking image gets refused.

troubleshooting

Two things to check. First, what the receiving app actually accepts — plenty of upload forms say "images" and mean JPG only. Second, whether the file really is what its name claims: renaming a HEIC to .jpg does not convert anything, and that single mistake is the most common reason a "converted" file is still rejected. Run the real conversion and the extension will match the contents.

troubleshooting

Image Format Converter supports free standard use within the published processing allowances. Free downloads are clean — no watermark. No signup is required for standard tool use. Photo effects and AI edits have a web-size limit on Free, with the original-resolution result available through Premium or one credit. Crop, resize, rotate, compress and convert stay full size. Premium supports batches of up to 60 files, with the applicable plan limits shown before processing.

pricing

No — Image Format Converter runs in the browser on desktop and phone. There is nothing to install, no trial to start, and no license to buy before you can see whether it does what you need. Try it on the file you are actually stuck with rather than a sample.
