How large will the PNG be?

Substantially larger than the HEIC — typically 5–10× larger because PNG is uncompressed for photographic content. That's the cost of losslessness.

Will EXIF orientation be correct?

Yes — the HEIC's EXIF orientation tag is read and the pixels are rotated before encoding. Portrait shots taken sideways will come out upright.

Why can't Windows or Android open HEIC natively?

HEIC requires the HEIF codec, which is paid on Windows (Microsoft Store) and missing on many Android devices. PNG is universal.
