Upload your photo and pick the aspect ratio you need. The preview immediately shows the exact final canvas, with your photo in place and the area the AI has to generate shaded around it. Press Generate once — there is no prompt to write and no settings to tune.
usageNo. Your complete photo is copied into the larger canvas exactly as it is, and only the new area around it is generated. Nothing is cropped away, stretched, or padded with bars, which is what separates this from a plain resize.
usageSquare 1:1, wide 16:9, story 9:16, portrait 4:5 and 3:4, and landscape 5:4 and 4:3. Each one shows its real canvas in the preview before you generate. Choosing a ratio your photo already matches leaves nothing to expand, so the tool tells you and asks for a different one.
featuresThey are the same operation described from opposite directions. Expanding adds new scene beyond the current edges to reach a bigger canvas; uncropping gives back space a tighter crop removed. Both run the same generative extension around your unchanged photo.
usageGenerative expansion is a Premium capability, and the upgrade options are shown before anything is generated, so nothing runs unexpectedly. Premium also covers AI scene extension on the resize and orientation tools and HD downloads.
pricingThe new area is invented from the scene it can see, so it is most reliable on open backgrounds — sky, walls, foliage, blurred depth — and least reliable where it has to continue faces, hands, text, logos, or strict architectural lines. Review the outer edges before publishing, and try a different ratio if a specific side is where the trouble is.
troubleshootingAlmost always one of three things. The file is over the 11 MB free upload limit — Premium takes 50 MB and Pro 120 MB. The format is not one this tool accepts, so check the list shown on the upload panel. Or the file is not really the format its name says: renaming a file does not change what is inside it, and that is the reason a valid-looking image gets refused.
troubleshootingYes — where there is a strength or intensity control, the default is deliberately obvious so you can see what the tool does. Most photos read better well below it. Bring the strength down until the effect looks like a decision rather than a filter, and compare against your original before you download.
troubleshootingYour download never carries a watermark. This is a paid capability, and it says so before you use it rather than after you have done the work — that is the whole difference from tools that let you finish and then put the export behind a payment.
pricingNo — AI Image Expander runs in the browser on desktop and phone. There is nothing to install, no trial to start, and no license to buy before you can see whether it does what you need. Try it on the file you are actually stuck with rather than a sample.
