How to generate a studio, gradient or podium background behind a product photo
This AI product background generator replaces what sits behind your product while the AI is asked to keep the item itself unchanged. Choose White studio, Warm beige, Color gradient, Stone podium or Botanical, or describe your own backdrop, and the tool builds the surface and a soft contact shadow around the product. It is made for listing images, ads and catalog pages where the product photo is fine but the setting is not.
Generate a product background in four steps
The presets are starting descriptions rather than fixed templates, so the surface, light and shadow are built for your photo. If the first result does not fit, change one instruction and regenerate. The AI is asked to keep the product and its label as photographed, so you do not paint around the item yourself unless the tool asks you to brush an area.
- Upload a sharp product photo with the whole item visible.
- Open Backdrops and choose White studio, Warm beige, Color gradient, Stone podium or Botanical.
- Add Custom instructions only if you need something specific, such as a surface color.
- Choose Generate Product background, then review the result against your original.
Describe your own backdrop in Custom instructions
Custom instructions take plain sentences of up to 1,000 characters. Name the surface, the color, where the light comes from and how busy the scene should be, for example a minimal beige studio sweep with a soft contact shadow. Mention empty space if you plan to add a headline later. Generated lettering is hard to control, so ask for plain surfaces and add the words afterward with a text tool.
Match the backdrop to where the image will be used
A marketplace listing usually wants White studio or another neutral sweep that keeps attention on the item. An ad or banner can use Color gradient with space left for the headline, a catalog page benefits from one backdrop repeated across every product, and a campaign visual can use Stone podium or Botanical for a more editorial look. When the requirement is simply pure white with no generated scene at all, put the product on a flat white background.
Check edges, labels and shadows before you publish
A generated backdrop can drift from your source, so inspect the product outline, the label text, the colors and the direction of the shadow before the image goes live. The tool's note on this page says to verify packaging text, dimensions, colors and logos against the real product. If a detail changed, name it in Custom instructions and generate again.
Apply one backdrop to a batch of product photos
Batch images, a Premium option, queues several product photos, applies the same backdrop instruction to each and returns one ZIP of PNGs. Test the wording on a single photo first, because the instruction runs unchanged for every image. For props and surroundings instead of a clean backdrop, build a lifestyle scene around the product.
Before you generate a backdrop
- Photograph one product alone, sharp and fully in frame, including the label and the base.
- Use an opaque JPG or PNG, because transparent cutouts are rejected.
- Decide where the image will be used, so the backdrop and any empty space for words fit it.
- Keep the real product at hand to check packaging text, colors and dimensions afterward.
Getting the product image ready to list
If a marketplace asks for a plain white main image, make the background pure white, then check the photo against marketplace image rules before you upload.
For an in-use shot with surfaces and props, generate a lifestyle scene around the product.
