Making an AVIF attachment that every recipient can open

AVIF is newer than WebP, and support outside web browsers is still uneven: some mail apps, older operating systems and photo viewers will not show an .avif file, so the person you write to may get an attachment they cannot open. Converting to JPG solves that for practically everyone.

The JPG will usually be bigger than the AVIF, since AVIF squeezes images harder than JPG can. The page starts at quality 90; for a photo that only needs to be viewed on screen, 75 to 85 keeps it looking clean at a smaller size. Watch the KB figure in Settings, because when you send several at once the total adds up quickly.

An animated AVIF converts as its first frame only, and transparent areas get the white fill or a color you pick. When a form caps the attachment, bring the JPG down to a set size like 100 KB, and when you are sending a whole set, one PDF can hold them all, one picture per page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a AVIF small enough to email?
Convert it, then check the size of the JPG result. If it is still over your mail service's attachment limit, lower the quality where the format allows it, or compress the result to a target size.
Will the recipient be able to open the JPG?
Yes — JPG opens in virtually every email client, phone and computer without extra software.
Can I adjust the JPG output quality?
Yes. Review the converted JPG result and adjust quality when that format supports it. Keep a higher setting for detail, or lower it when file size matters more.
What happens to my AVIF upload after conversion?
The file is used only to create the requested JPG result and is automatically deleted after the temporary processing period.

QualitySliderRange: 20–100 · Default: 90
For JPG, WebP, AVIF and image-to-PDF output: higher keeps more detail but makes a bigger file; 60–80 suits most photos. Documents (Publisher, XPS, EPS…) become PDFs with every page and sharp text, with no quality setting.
Lossless modeOn / Off
For WebP and AVIF output: keeps every pixel exactly (best for logos, graphics and transparency) at the cost of a larger file.

For JPG, BMP and image-to-PDF output, which can’t store transparency: the colour that fills transparent areas (white by default).

How AVIF to JPG helps you get it done

Real problems it solves every day — for businesses, creators, and everyday tasks. Find the use case that fits you and start.

Everyday Use

Open Website-Saved AVIF Photos Anywhere

Rescue an image saved from a modern AVIF-serving website so it opens cleanly in Preview, Windows Photo Viewer, Photoshop or any editor that doesn't yet support AVIF.

Productivity

Attach Modern Images to Old Upload Forms

Convert an AVIF photo to JPG before attaching it to a job application, government portal, or legacy CMS uploader that rejects or mishandles the newer format.

For Business

Embed AVIF Renders in PowerPoint, Word & Google Slides

Office apps can't insert AVIF images directly — convert to JPG first so a rendered graphic or downloaded photo drops straight into a pitch deck, report or document.

For E-commerce

Marketplace-Ready Product Photos from AVIF Renders

Convert AVIF product renders or screenshots to JPG with the Background fill color set to white, giving Etsy, Amazon and eBay listings a consistent, marketplace-ready photo.

For Developers

Batch-Convert a Downloads Folder for Old Editors

Use Batch mode (Premium) to convert a whole folder of AVIF images to JPG in one pass and download a single ZIP, ready to open in Photoshop CS, older GIMP versions, or devices that can't decode AVIF.

Watch each transformation land

Every photo crosses the slash untouched and comes out the other side finished.
