Count banknotes in a bundle from a photo

Works with JPG, PNG, WEBP · Free up to 20 MB, Premium 50 MB

Spread the banknotes so they overlap as little as possible — one layer deep is ideal — and photograph from above in even light. Built for shops, cash offices, venues and event teams — review and correct each photo before adding it to a CSV or PDF tally.

  • Review the photo, then count visible banknotes
  • Count without marking; add example boxes if you need a guided recount
  • Stop counting the same banknotes twice to be sure of the total

Counting banknotes fanned out or spread on a counter

Banknotes are counted from a photo when a till, cash office or event float needs a quick draft before the hand count, or when a marked image helps a handover between shifts. The count is notes, not money: the counter finds note shapes, and turning them into a value by denomination is your step. For high-volume bundles, a note-counting machine and your normal cash-control process remain the right tool.

Spread the notes on a plain counter so each one shows at least a clear strip, or fan them in a single arc with the same edge exposed on every note. Notes lying exactly on top of each other cannot be counted from above. Denominations differ in color and size, so mark one note of each value in Similar items, up to three per photo; the Found per example rows give a split to check and multiply out. For more denominations, clear the examples, mark the rest and count the same photo again.

Enter each denomination as its own tally row with the value in the label, and treat the result as a draft that a person verifies by hand. Coins from the same till go on the coin counter, and event tokens or drink vouchers can join the same tally.

Before photographing notes

  • Notes spread or fanned so every note shows
  • One to three denominations marked per count
  • A plain surface with no pattern
  • A hand count to confirm the draft

Frequently asked questions

Does it work on a loose pile?
It can only mark the visible layer. Spread items one layer deep, mark a clear example, and review and correct the result markers. Treat a visible-face count on a large pile as an estimate and use the same framing between checks.
Can it replace a note-counting machine?
For fanned-out or spread notes it produces an AI-assisted draft tally and marked photo for manual review. Check every marker and correct misses or duplicates. For high-volume bundled cash, use a note-counting machine and the normal cash-control process.
What if the photo has more than just banknotes in it?
Auto mode uses the selected item name to find what to count. For a guided recount, mark one complete, clearly visible banknotes — up to 3 examples for different-looking kinds. Similar-looking distractors can still affect the result, so review every marker before using the total.
Can I count several photos into one total?
Yes — count each photo and add every reviewed result to the tally sheet as a labelled row. If you use example boxes, mark them separately on each photo. Export the tally as CSV or a PDF report, or save it to your account.
Is it free and private?
Yes. You can count, review and download a free result without an account. Downloads are free without a watermark. No signup required. Server-processed photos are encrypted in transit and removed under our Security policy.
