Frequently Asked Questions

Upload your image, select a preset aspect ratio like 1:1 (square), 4:5 (portrait), or 16:9 (landscape), and position the crop. This online image cropper preserves quality and helps create Instagram posts, profile pictures, and website banners with precise framing. Supports JPG, PNG, WEBP, GIF, SVG formats for businesses and creators.

usage

Yes. Enter exact width and height to crop to pixel-perfect dimensions, great for YouTube thumbnails, blog hero images, and ad creatives. You can drag to reframe the subject and confirm composition before downloading a sharp, ready-to-publish file. Essential for e-commerce and digital marketing.

features

Cropping removes unwanted edges without resampling, so quality stays the same within the kept area. Because we don't upscale, the remaining pixels remain crisp, making this ideal for portrait headshots, product close-ups, and social media visuals that need focus. Perfect for professional photographers and businesses.

quality

Use 1:1 for Instagram feed, 4:5 for portrait posts, 16:9 for landscape, and platform-specific sizes for cover images. Our crop presets help you hit the recommended ratios, so your photos display correctly without awkward trimming or black bars on different devices. Optimized for social media marketing strategies.

tips

Yes. You can crop JPEG, PNG, GIF, and WebP files, then download a high-quality JPEG for universal compatibility. Transparent PNGs maintain crisp edges, which is useful when preparing assets for ecommerce listings, presentation slides, and UI mockups. SVG files retain scalability for logos and vector graphics.

technical

Yes. The crop happens safely on secure servers. Downloads have no watermarks, making this a safe choice for personal photos, client work, and time-sensitive content creation that needs reliable privacy and speed. Trusted by businesses, agencies, and professional creators.

privacy

Cropping trims parts of the photo to change its shape or framing without stretching anything, while resizing keeps the whole image but scales it to new pixel dimensions. If you want to keep the entire picture and just make it smaller or larger, use the Resize Image tool; use this cropper when you want to cut to a specific area or aspect ratio.

usage

Drag the corner handles to resize the crop box freely, drag inside the box to reposition it, or use the + / − width and height steppers for fine control — the live pixel size is shown as you go. When the framing looks right, choose JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF output and download.

usage

Yes — 'circle crop', 'photo circle' and 'round image' all mean the same thing: cutting your picture into a round circle. Upload any photo, position and resize the circle, and download a round image with a transparent PNG background, or a solid colour if you export as JPG.

usage

This tool crops to a circle. For other shapes — heart, star, diamond, hexagon and more — use the Crop by Shape tool, which works the same way but lets you pick the cut-out shape.

features

It sets the JPEG compression from 1% (smallest file, visible artifacts) to 100% (largest file, no visible loss). For social posts or thumbnails 80-90% keeps the file small with no noticeable quality drop; for print or close-up product shots push it to 95-100%. Switching to PNG or WebP skips this slider since PNG is lossless and WebP uses its own efficient compression.

quality

Square locks a 1:1 box that matches Instagram feed posts and most profile pictures, Landscape (16:9) matches YouTube thumbnails and widescreen banners, and Portrait (2:3) suits standard photo prints and Pinterest-style vertical images. Click a preset to snap the crop box to that ratio, then drag it into position — or skip presets entirely and drag the handles freeform for a custom ratio.

features

Choose WebP as the Output Format for the best size-to-quality ratio on the web — it's typically 25-35% smaller than an equivalent JPEG at the same visual quality. If you need JPEG for compatibility instead, pair it with a Quality setting around 80% to balance a small file size against sharp detail.

tips

Portrait snaps the crop box to a 9:16 vertical ratio — the same shape used by Instagram Stories and Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts — so the crop fills a phone screen edge-to-edge. 4:5 is a shorter, wider portrait ratio meant for regular Instagram and Facebook feed posts, not full-screen vertical video, so pick Portrait specifically when your final destination is a Story, Reel or Short.

features

4:3 and 3:2 match the sensor ratios of classic point-and-shoot and DSLR cameras plus older 4:3 monitors and TVs, so pick one of those if your original photo was shot in that ratio and you don't want extra letterboxing. 3:4 and 2:3 are the same ratios flipped to portrait orientation, useful for vertical prints, Pinterest pins and framed photos.

features

4x6 prints match the 2:3 preset exactly, and 8x10 prints match 4:5 exactly, so picking those presets means your print lab won't auto-crop anything off. 5x7 doesn't correspond exactly to any preset (its ratio falls between 3:4 and 4:3), so for that size it's more accurate to skip presets and drag the crop box freeform, or use the Width/Height steppers to dial in the exact pixel dimensions your printer requests.

tips

Free doesn't reset or resize anything — it simply marks itself as the active preset so you're no longer locked to a fixed ratio, while your crop box stays exactly where it was. To get back to a fully freeform box after using a ratio preset like 16:9 or 4:5, click Free and then drag the corner handles or use the Width/Height steppers to adjust the shape manually.
