For modern browsers and devices you need six sizes: 16×16 and 32×32 for browser tabs, 48×48 for Windows site icons, 180×180 for Apple touch icon (iOS home screen), and 192×192 + 512×512 for Android home screens and PWA install prompts. Our generator produces all six plus a site.webmanifest from a single source image.
usageMost modern browsers prefer the PNG link tags (rel="icon" type="image/png"), so an ICO file is no longer required. We skip the legacy ICO and provide PNG favicons sized correctly for every modern target. If you must support Internet Explorer or very old Chrome, you can convert one of the PNGs to ICO separately.
technicalA web app manifest is a JSON file that tells Android, Chrome and Edge how your site should look when installed as a progressive web app — icon, name, theme color and display mode. Our generator includes a starter manifest pointing at the Android Chrome icons; you only need to edit the name and theme_color.
featuresA square (1:1) PNG at 512×512 or larger gives the cleanest output at every size. Avoid fine detail that disappears at 16×16 — favicons work best with a single bold shape and high contrast. Transparent PNGs work; the tool letterboxes them so the icon sits centered at every size.
tipsYour source image is uploaded over HTTPS to our secure server, which renders every favicon size and the site.webmanifest and returns them as a ZIP, then deletes the upload automatically after processing. Downloads have no watermark and nothing is stored or shared, so it stays safe for unreleased products and pre-launch brand identities.
privacyUnzip the download into your site's /public (or web root) folder, then add the included HTML snippet to your <head>: link tags for the PNG icons plus a link to site.webmanifest. Hard refresh your site (Cmd+Shift+R) — browsers cache favicons aggressively, so you may need to clear the cache for the new icon to appear.
usageYes — the 192×192 and 512×512 PNGs are exactly what Chrome and Edge look for to qualify a site as an installable PWA. Together with the manifest they meet the lighthouse PWA installability check.
technicalYes. No watermarks, no signup, no usage cap — and the ZIP is yours forever. We added this tool because every developer needs a favicon set eventually, and the existing generators were either ad-laden or made you pay for high-resolution outputs.
pricingA favicon is the small icon a browser shows next to your page title in the tab, in bookmarks, and in history. It is also used for the icon when someone adds your site to a phone's home screen or installs it as an app. Upload your logo here and the generator produces the full set of favicon sizes plus a site.webmanifest in one ZIP.
usageYes — the uploader accepts PNG, JPEG, WebP and SVG source files, not just PNG. SVG is worth using if you have it: because it's vector, every output size from 16 up to 512 is rendered fresh from the vector data instead of being scaled up from a raster, so edges stay crisp even at 512×512. JPEG and WebP work fine too, though you should flatten any transparency onto a background first since JPEG can't hold an alpha channel.
technicalHow Favicon Generator helps you get it done
Real problems it solves every day — for businesses, creators, and everyday tasks. Find the use case that fits you and start in seconds.
Indie Hacker Launches
Solo founders shipping their MVP need a polished favicon before launch. Generate every size from your single logo image and the manifest in one click — no Figma, no design subscription needed.
Agency Client Setup
When delivering a new client site, the favicon set is rarely budgeted but always expected. Generate the ZIP at the end of the project, drop it in /public, and tick the deliverable.
PWA Installability
To pass the Chrome installability check, your manifest needs 192×192 and 512×512 icons. Our output meets that requirement out of the box, plus the matching HTML head tags.
Multi-Brand Workspaces
Agencies and consultants juggling multiple client brands can regenerate the favicon set in 10 seconds whenever a brand refresh ships — no need to maintain a Photoshop action.
Open Source Project Branding
GitHub Pages, Vercel, Netlify and Cloudflare Pages sites all need favicons to look polished in browser tabs. Drop the generated files into your repo and your project looks shipped.
Rebranding Refresh
When your logo changes, regenerate every required size — including the 180px Apple touch icon and 512px Android PWA icon — without manually re-exporting from Illustrator.
Icons for a Browser Extension Manifest
Grab the 16, 32 and 48px PNGs straight out of the ZIP for your manifest.json icons object — a fast way to get compliant extension icons without exporting each size by hand in a design tool.
Fill the Favicon Gap on No-Code Sites
Webflow, Framer and Wix rarely generate a full favicon set on their own; upload your logo here and paste the resulting sizes and HTML snippet into the site's custom-code or SEO settings panel in minutes.
Give a Hobby Blog a Finished Look
Personal blogs on Ghost, Jekyll or Hugo often ship with no favicon at all; generate the full set from a headshot or hand-drawn logo so the browser tab looks intentional instead of blank.
Fix the Favicon Flagged in an SEO Audit
A missing or broken favicon is a common flag in Lighthouse and SEO crawler reports, and it quietly hurts click-through in search results and bookmarks. Regenerate the full set in one upload and close out that finding today.
