For broad browser and device coverage, common targets include 16×16 and 32×32 browser icons, a 48×48 Windows icon, a 180×180 Apple touch icon, and 192×192 plus 512×512 Android/PWA icons. The generator produces these plus favicon.ico and site.webmanifest from an image, initials or an emoji or symbol.
usageModern browsers support PNG icons, but favicon.ico remains a useful compatibility fallback. The downloaded pack includes a multi-resolution favicon.ico as well as the modern PNG sizes, so you do not need a second conversion.
technicalA web app manifest is a JSON file that tells Android, Chrome and Edge how your site should look when installed as a progressive web app — icon, name, theme color and display mode. Our generator includes a starter manifest pointing at the Android Chrome icons; you only need to edit the name and theme_color.
featuresUse a square image at 512×512 or larger, one to three bold initials with strong contrast, or one simple emoji or symbol. Avoid fine detail that disappears at 16×16. The live source preview helps you judge the lettermark or emoji before generating the pack.
tipsUploaded logos are sent over HTTPS when you choose Generate. Initials and emoji sources are first rendered locally in your browser, then that generated source image is sent to create the pack. Server-processed files follow the Security policy; nothing is uploaded merely by editing the local preview.
privacyUnzip the download into your site's /public (or web root) folder, then add the included HTML snippet to your <head>: link tags for the PNG icons plus a link to site.webmanifest. Hard refresh your site (Cmd+Shift+R) — browsers cache favicons aggressively, so you may need to clear the cache for the new icon to appear.
usageThe pack supplies the 192×192 and 512×512 icons and a starter manifest used by installable web apps. Icons alone do not make a site installable; your app must also satisfy the browser's current manifest, HTTPS and service-worker requirements.
technicalYes. Preview and download the clean favicon ZIP without creating an account. The icon set is rendered on our servers, so free use has an allowance and Premium removes the cap.
pricingA favicon is the small icon shown in browser tabs, bookmarks and history, with related icon sizes used for home-screen and installed-app shortcuts. Start here with a logo image, initials or an emoji or symbol and download the icon set plus site.webmanifest in one ZIP.
usageYes. Choose Create from initials to enter one to three characters, a text style and foreground/background colors, or choose Create from emoji for a symbol and background. The relevant design panel opens automatically, the source is previewed locally, and nothing is generated until you choose the favicon action.
featuresYes — the uploader accepts PNG, JPEG, WebP and SVG source files, not just PNG. SVG is worth using if you have it: because it's vector, every output size from 16 up to 512 is rendered fresh from the vector data instead of being scaled up from a raster, so edges stay crisp even at 512×512. JPEG and WebP work fine too, though you should flatten any transparency onto a background first since JPEG can't hold an alpha channel.
technicalChoose Use an image or logo, upload the PNG and generate the pack. It includes a multi-resolution favicon.ico, PNG sizes, Apple and Android icons, site.webmanifest and an HTML snippet in one ZIP. You can also start from JPEG, WebP or SVG, or switch modes to design a lettermark from initials or use an emoji or symbol.
usageYes — Pixoate supports batch and bulk processing. Switch to Batch mode, add up to 60 source images on Premium or 200 on Pro, set your options once, and every source image is processed with the same settings before you download one ZIP containing a complete favicon-pack archive per source image. Bulk processing is a Premium feature; the output uses the same quality and settings as single mode.
featuresYes — with bulk processing you configure the settings a single time and they apply to every item in the batch — up to 60 source images on Premium or 200 on Pro. There is no need to repeat the setup per item, and Temporary uploaded and generated files are processed securely and deleted automatically.
usageAlmost always one of three things. The file is over the 11 MB free upload limit — Premium takes 50 MB and Pro 120 MB. The format is not one this tool accepts, so check the list shown on the upload panel. Or the file is not really the format its name says: renaming a file does not change what is inside it, and that is the reason a valid-looking file gets refused.
troubleshootingYes — adjust the inputs and generate again as many times as you need; nothing is locked in until you download. Check the result at the size it will actually be used, because something that reads clearly on screen can fail once it is printed small or shown on a phone.
troubleshootingNo. You can run Favicon Generator and download the free result without an account, and it carries no watermark. Premium is what you buy when the limits start to bite: up to 60 files in one batch, larger uploads, no daily cap, and the original-resolution result. Nothing is revealed at the download step that was not visible before you started.
pricingNo — Favicon Generator runs in the browser on desktop and phone. There is nothing to install, no trial to start, and no license to buy before you can see whether it does what you need. Try it on the file you are actually stuck with rather than a sample.
troubleshootingHow Favicon Generator helps you get it done
Real problems it solves every day — for businesses, creators, and everyday tasks. Find the use case that fits you and start.
Indie Hacker Launches
Solo founders shipping their MVP need a polished favicon before launch. Generate every size from your single logo image and the manifest in one click — no Figma, no design subscription needed.
Agency Client Setup
When delivering a new client site, the favicon set is rarely budgeted but always expected. Generate the ZIP at the end of the project, drop it in /public, and tick the deliverable.
PWA Installability
To pass the Chrome installability check, your manifest needs 192×192 and 512×512 icons. Our output meets that requirement out of the box, plus the matching HTML head tags.
Multi-Brand Workspaces
Agencies and consultants juggling multiple client brands can regenerate the favicon set in 10 seconds whenever a brand refresh ships — no need to maintain a Photoshop action.
Open Source Project Branding
GitHub Pages, Vercel, Netlify and Cloudflare Pages sites all need favicons to look polished in browser tabs. Drop the generated files into your repo and your project looks shipped.
Rebranding Refresh
When your logo changes, regenerate every required size — including the 180px Apple touch icon and 512px Android PWA icon — without manually re-exporting from Illustrator.
Icons for a Browser Extension Manifest
Grab the 16, 32 and 48px PNGs straight out of the ZIP for your manifest.json icons object — a fast way to get compliant extension icons without exporting each size by hand in a design tool.
Fill the Favicon Gap on No-Code Sites
Webflow, Framer and Wix rarely generate a full favicon set on their own; upload your logo here and paste the resulting sizes and HTML snippet into the site's custom-code or SEO settings panel in minutes.
Give a Hobby Blog a Finished Look
Personal blogs on Ghost, Jekyll or Hugo often ship with no favicon at all; generate the full set from a headshot or hand-drawn logo so the browser tab looks intentional instead of blank.
Fix the Favicon Flagged in an SEO Audit
A missing or broken favicon is a common flag in Lighthouse and SEO crawler reports, and it quietly hurts click-through in search results and bookmarks. Regenerate the full set in one upload and close out that finding today.
