Rescuing early-2000s Canon CRW photos as JPG

CRW was Canon's first RAW format, written by the earliest EOS digital SLRs such as the D30, D60, 10D and the original Digital Rebel (300D), and by PowerShot compacts such as the G1, G2 and G3. Canon replaced it with CR2 around 2004, so CRW files today tend to sit on old CDs, memory cards and backup drives, and many current photo apps no longer open them.

On those old cards each CRW often sits beside a small .THM file with the same name. The THM is only a thumbnail for the camera screen; upload the .CRW, which holds the full picture. Expect modest sizes: the 10D and 300D recorded about 6 megapixels and the G1 about 3, enough for a sharp 6 × 4 inch print but not for a large enlargement.
