Settings information

Every control in Instagram Resize, explained — what it does and when to use it.

Size

Instagram Image SizesPresets
Choose the Instagram placement to resize for; each preset sets exact pixel dimensions, from 1080×1080 square posts to 1080×1920 Stories/Reels and 320×320 profile pictures, with Square Post as the default.Options: Square PostPortrait PostLandscape PostStories/ReelsProfile PictureProfile Display

Output

Maintain Aspect RatioOn / Off
Keeps your photo's original proportions and pads the extra space instead of stretching it to fit the exact preset dimensions; it defaults to on and is locked on while Use Blur Background is enabled.
Use Blur BackgroundOn / Off
Fills the padding around your photo with a softly blurred copy of the image itself for a seamless full-frame look instead of solid color bars; on by default.
QualitySliderRange: 10–100% · Default: 92%
Sets output compression, where higher values keep more detail with larger files and lower values shrink the file at some cost to sharpness; 85-95 works well for Instagram posts.
Blur IntensitySliderRange: 5–50 · Default: 20
Controls how soft the blurred background padding looks, from a subtle soft-focus edge at low values to a heavily diffused backdrop at high values; appears only when Use Blur Background is on.
Background ColorColor picker
Picks the solid color for the padding bars around your photo via a color picker, hex text input, or quick white/black/gray swatches; shown only when Maintain Aspect Ratio is on and Use Blur Background is off.
Output FormatDropdown
Chooses the file type of the resized image; it auto-matches your upload's format but you can override it, e.g. JPEG for smaller files or PNG to keep transparency.Options: JPEGPNGWebPGIF

Preview

Show safe zoneOn / Off
Toggles an overlay of Instagram's circular crop boundary on the preview so you can keep faces or logos inside the visible circle; the overlay is on by default and the button (reading Hide safe zone while active) appears only for the Profile Picture and Profile Display presets.

Frequently Asked Questions

Use 1080 x 1080 for square posts, 1080 x 1350 for portrait, 1080 x 608 for landscape, and 1080 x 1920 for stories and reels. Our presets resize accurately so your photos remain crisp and avoid unwanted cropping in the feed, grid, and story viewers.

tips

Upload your photo and select a preset. We maintain aspect ratio and optimize for sharpness at viewing sizes. Export as a high-quality sRGB JPEG to minimize Instagram compression. This workflow helps your content look clean and professional across phones and tablets.

quality

Yes. Resize each image to the same aspect ratio (often 1080 x 1350 portrait) and keep subjects centered with safe margins. Consistent dimensions prevent jarring jumps between slides and increase completion rates on multi-image posts and tutorials.

features

Prepare a square image with centered content and some padding so the circular crop doesn't cut off important areas. Export as a high-quality JPEG for reliable clarity. This approach keeps avatars and highlight covers looking sharp on retina displays.

usage

Yes. You can upload PNG or WebP, and we export a high-quality JPEG for compatibility. Transparent PNGs are handled cleanly, making logos and text overlays look smooth in story backgrounds, reels covers, and promotional posts.

technical

Yes. Processing happens on our secure servers and uploads are auto-deleted after processing. Downloads have no watermark, so you can prepare posts, carousels, and story graphics quickly with a privacy-first workflow that suits agencies, creators, and small businesses.

privacy

Yes. Turn on Maintain Aspect Ratio and your full photo fits inside the Instagram frame with no cropping. Pick any solid padding color for clean bars, or switch on the blurred-background option so the empty space fills with a soft blur of your own image. Great for product shots, full-body fashion photos, and group selfies where Instagram would otherwise cut someone off.

features

The Quality slider (10-100) controls the compression level of the output — higher values keep more detail but produce a larger file, lower values shrink the file at the cost of some sharpness. For most Instagram posts, 85-95 keeps photos crisp after Instagram's own re-compression while still uploading quickly.

quality

Turn on Use blurred background, then use the Blur Intensity slider (5-50) to set how soft the padding around your image looks — low values give a subtle soft-focus edge, high values create a heavily diffused, dreamy backdrop. This slider only appears when the blurred-background option is active, since it replaces the solid-color padding option.

features

Yes. Turn off Use blurred background while Maintain aspect ratio stays on, and a Background Color picker with a hex input and four quick swatches (white, black, light gray, gray) appears. This gives clean solid bars instead of blur — useful for brand-consistent posts where you want a specific color, not a blurred edge.

features

Yes. The Output Format dropdown lets you export as JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF regardless of the size preset. The tool auto-selects a sensible default based on your uploaded file type — GIF stays GIF, PNG stays PNG — but you can override it, for example choosing JPEG for smaller file sizes on a photo that started as PNG.

technical

For circular-crop presets like Profile Picture and Profile Display, a Show/Hide safe zone button overlays a guide showing exactly what Instagram's circular mask will crop away. Toggle it on before finalizing your profile photo so your face or logo isn't cut off at the edges once Instagram applies the circle crop.

tips

Pick the Profile Picture preset, keep Maintain aspect ratio on so nothing stretches, and turn on the safe zone overlay to see the circular crop boundary before you commit. If your subject isn't centered, add background padding — blurred or solid color — rather than letting the tool crop tight, since anything outside the safe-zone circle gets hidden on Instagram.

tips

This happens when Maintain aspect ratio is turned off — the photo is force-fit to the exact target dimensions instead of being scaled proportionally, which distorts faces and straight lines when the source photo's ratio doesn't match the preset. Turn Maintain aspect ratio back on and either enable Use blurred background or pick a solid Background Color so the full photo fits inside the frame without warping.

technical

Turning on Use blurred background automatically switches on and locks Maintain aspect ratio, since the blur effect only makes sense when your whole uncropped photo is shown with the extra space filled by a soft blurred copy behind it. Turn off Use blurred background first if you want to control Maintain aspect ratio independently.

technical

Square posts are 1080×1080 px, portrait posts are 1080×1350 px and landscape posts are 1080×608 px, while Stories and Reels run 1080×1920 px vertical. Pick the matching preset and the resizer fits your photo to those exact Instagram post dimensions — smart padding or a blurred background fills the extra space instead of cropping anything out.

technical

Feed posts use the 1:1 square ratio, portrait posts use 4:5 — the tallest format allowed in the feed, so it earns the most screen space — and landscape posts use the wider 1080×608 frame. Stories and Reels use 9:16. Each preset matches one of these Instagram aspect ratios exactly, so your upload is never auto-cropped when it goes live.

tips

Yes — Pixoate supports batch and bulk processing. Switch to Batch mode, add up to 60 photos on Premium or 200 on Pro, set your options once, and every photo is processed with the same settings before you download a single ZIP. Bulk processing is a Premium feature; the output uses the same quality and settings as single mode.

features

Yes — with bulk processing you configure the settings a single time and they apply to every item in the batch — up to 60 photos on Premium or 200 on Pro. There is no need to repeat the setup per item, and Temporary uploaded and generated files are processed securely and deleted automatically.
