About Excel to PDF

Uses LibreOffice Calc headless to render the spreadsheet to PDF — gridlines, column widths, cell formatting and embedded charts are preserved. Supports .xls, .xlsx, .ods and .csv inputs.

Frequently Asked Questions

Drop a .xls, .xlsx, .ods or .csv file. LibreOffice Calc opens it headlessly, lays out the cells across as many PDF pages as needed, and returns a downloadable PDF — preserving column widths, cell formatting, conditional formatting colors, and gridlines.

usage

Yes — embedded charts (column, line, pie, scatter) and conditional formatting colors are rendered using LibreOffice's native chart engine. The output is a static snapshot, so the chart cannot be edited inside the PDF, but it looks identical to the spreadsheet.

quality

Each sheet becomes a section of the PDF, with sheet name visible in a header. Long sheets paginate across multiple pages. Print area settings from Excel are respected — if you have set Print Areas, only those cells appear in the PDF.

features

Formulas are evaluated to their current values and only the displayed result appears in the PDF — exactly what would print from Excel. The source workbook is not modified.

technical

Yes — CSV is treated as a single-sheet spreadsheet with no formatting. The output is a simple table grid sized to A4 (you can adjust paper size by opening the CSV in Excel/LibreOffice first and saving as .xlsx with custom formatting).

features

LibreOffice uses the sheet's Page Setup if defined (paper size, orientation, scaling). If unset, it defaults to A4 portrait and auto-scales wide tables to fit. For best results, set Page Setup explicitly in Excel before exporting.

tips

Files are uploaded to our LibreOffice service, converted in isolation, and deleted within 24 hours. We never share or analyse your data. For financial models or PII spreadsheets, use a desktop LibreOffice install.

privacy

Free, no watermark, up to 50MB per file. No signup or daily cap.

Use Cases

Quotes, Invoices and Estimates

You built the invoice as an Excel template, but clients should receive a non-editable PDF. Convert before sending — formulas evaluate, columns stay aligned, and the recipient can't accidentally break your formatting.

business

Tax Filings and Schedules

Excel-built tax workings and schedules need to be submitted to your CPA as PDF for archival. Convert with full gridlines so every cell is auditable.

finance

Board Reports & Financial Summaries

Numbers belong in Excel for analysis; board members want a stable PDF. Convert the final dashboard sheet to a printable PDF report — formulas frozen at submission time.

governance

Inventory Snapshots

Take a point-in-time PDF snapshot of your inventory spreadsheet for end-of-quarter reporting or auditor review. The PDF is immutable evidence; the Excel file keeps evolving.

Pricing Tables for Public Sharing

Publishing pricing tiers on your website? A PDF download is cleaner than embedding Excel. Convert your master pricing sheet and link from your product page.

Grant Application Budgets

Grants and funding applications usually require a budget worksheet attached as PDF, not Excel. Convert your detailed budget spreadsheet — gridlines, formulas evaluated, ready for review.
