Frequently Asked Questions

Drop a .xls, .xlsx, .ods or .csv file. The converter opens the workbook, lays out the cells across as many PDF pages as needed, and returns a downloadable PDF — preserving column widths, cell formatting, conditional formatting colors, and gridlines.

usage

Embedded charts and conditional-formatting colors are included in the static PDF when the conversion engine supports them. Review the output because complex workbooks, fonts and layout rules can render differently.

quality

Each sheet becomes a section of the PDF, with sheet name visible in a header. Long sheets paginate across multiple pages. Print area settings from Excel are respected — if you have set Print Areas, only those cells appear in the PDF.

features

Formulas are evaluated to their current values and only the displayed result appears in the PDF — exactly what would print from Excel. The source workbook is not modified.

technical

Yes — CSV is treated as a single-sheet spreadsheet with no formatting. The output is a simple table grid sized to A4 (you can adjust paper size by opening the CSV in Excel/LibreOffice first and saving as .xlsx with custom formatting).

features

The converter uses the sheet's Page Setup if defined (paper size, orientation, scaling). If unset, it defaults to A4 portrait and auto-scales wide tables to fit. For best results, set Page Setup explicitly in Excel before exporting.

tips

Files are uploaded to our conversion service, converted in isolation, and removed under our Security policy — unless you explicitly share a result, which keeps it at a public link anyone who has it can open for up to 30 days. We never share or analyse your data. For financial models or PII spreadsheets, use a desktop office suite instead.

privacy

Preview and download a clean standard conversion without creating an account. Free conversions have a daily allowance and a 11MB per-file limit; Premium raises the limit to 50MB and lifts the daily cap, while Pro raises it to 120MB.

pricing

Wide sheets clip or spill onto extra pages when no Page Setup is defined. Open the spreadsheet, switch the orientation to Landscape and set Page Setup to 'Fit to 1 page wide' (or define a Print Area), then re-export — the converter respects those settings and scales the table to fit. With nothing set it defaults to A4 portrait and auto-scales wide tables.

tips

Yes — the same conversion engine powers our Word to PDF and PPT to PDF tools, so you can turn .doc/.docx and .ppt/.pptx files into PDFs for free with formatting preserved. This page is tuned for spreadsheets (.xls, .xlsx, .ods, .csv); pick the matching converter for documents or slides.

features

You don't need Excel or any office suite. Upload the XLS, XLSX, ODS or CSV file here and it is rendered to PDF on our secure server with gridlines and cell formatting preserved, then deleted automatically. This is handy on a Chromebook, a phone or a work machine without an Office licence — the download is a standard PDF that opens anywhere.

usage

Yes — Pixoate supports batch and bulk processing. Switch to Batch mode, add up to 60 spreadsheets on Premium or 200 on Pro, set your options once, and every spreadsheet is processed with the same settings before you download a single ZIP. Bulk processing is a Premium feature; the output uses the same quality and settings as single mode.

features

Yes — with bulk processing you configure the settings a single time and they apply to every item in the batch — up to 60 spreadsheets on Premium or 200 on Pro. There is no need to repeat the setup per item, and Temporary uploaded and generated files are processed securely and deleted automatically.

usage

Almost always one of three things. The file is over the 11 MB free upload limit — Premium takes 50 MB and Pro 120 MB. The format is not one this tool accepts, so check the list shown on the upload panel. Or the file is not really the format its name says: renaming a file does not change what is inside it, and that is the reason a valid-looking PDF gets refused.

troubleshooting

That is nearly always a font the document uses but the converter cannot see, so a substitute steps in and the spacing moves with it. Stick to widely available fonts, or embed the fonts in the source document before converting. Check page breaks and any table that sits near the bottom of a page in the output.

troubleshooting

No. You can run Excel to PDF and download the free result without an account, and it carries no watermark. Premium is what you buy when the limits start to bite: up to 60 files in one batch, larger uploads, no daily cap, and the original-resolution result. Nothing is revealed at the download step that was not visible before you started.

pricing

No — Excel to PDF runs in the browser on desktop and phone. There is nothing to install, no trial to start, and no license to buy before you can see whether it does what you need. Try it on the file you are actually stuck with rather than a sample.

troubleshooting

How Excel to PDF helps you get it done

Real problems it solves every day — for businesses, creators, and everyday tasks. Find the use case that fits you and start.

For Business

Quotes, Invoices and Estimates

You built the invoice as an Excel template, but clients should receive a non-editable PDF. Convert before sending — formulas evaluate, columns stay aligned, and the recipient can't accidentally break your formatting.

Finance

Tax Filings and Schedules

Excel-built tax workings and schedules need to be submitted to your CPA as PDF for archival. Convert with full gridlines so every cell is auditable.

Official Documents

Board Reports & Financial Summaries

Numbers belong in Excel for analysis; board members want a stable PDF. Convert the final dashboard sheet to a printable PDF report — formulas frozen at submission time.

For Business

Inventory Snapshots

Take a point-in-time PDF snapshot of your inventory spreadsheet for end-of-quarter reporting or auditor review. The PDF is immutable evidence; the Excel file keeps evolving.

Marketing

Pricing Tables for Public Sharing

Publishing pricing tiers on your website? A PDF download is cleaner than embedding Excel. Convert your master pricing sheet and link from your product page.

For Business

Grant Application Budgets

Grants and funding applications usually require a budget worksheet attached as PDF, not Excel. Convert your detailed budget spreadsheet — gridlines, formulas evaluated, ready for review.

Real Estate

Real Estate Comps & Rent Rolls for Buyers

Convert a comparable-sales sheet or rent roll to a locked PDF before sending it to a buyer, lender or property manager, so the formulas and formatting can't be accidentally edited downstream.

Education

Gradebook Summaries for Report Cards

Convert a class gradebook spreadsheet to PDF to share an individual student's grade summary with parents, without exposing the rest of the class's data or the live formulas behind it.

Events

Event Budget Trackers for Vendors & Co-Planners

Turn a wedding or event budget spreadsheet into a shareable PDF for vendors and co-planners who need the numbers but shouldn't be able to edit your master tracking file.

Research

Research Data Tables for Paper Appendices

Convert a results or raw-data spreadsheet into a clean PDF table for a journal submission or thesis appendix, preserving exact column widths and formatting instead of pasting a screenshot.

Finance

Investor-Ready Financial Statements

Convert a monthly P&L, budget or financial model spreadsheet into a polished, uneditable PDF before sending it to investors, lenders or auditors, preserving exact cell formatting and conditional-formatting highlights without exposing the live formulas behind the numbers.

Every photo crosses the slash untouched and comes out the other side finished.
