Yes. Each color is traced as its own closed path, which is what a cutting machine needs to separate one cut from another. For a cut file, choose a low color count and the Bold detail setting, since fewer points cut more cleanly than a path that follows every pixel.

Yes. The DXF export writes one layer per color as closed polylines, in millimetres, so an operator can assign a different cut, score or engrave setting to each layer. Coordinates are flipped to the Y-up convention DXF uses, so the design does not come out mirrored.

Photographs contain thousands of subtly different colors and gradients, and vector outlines are flat areas of one color, so a photo becomes a poster-like approximation rather than a copy. Logos, icons, lettering and flat artwork trace well. For a photo, remove the background first so the subject is traced on its own instead of together with the noise behind it.

They set how closely the outline is allowed to depart from the pixel edge. Bold produces the fewest points and the cleanest cut; Exact follows the original edge most closely and produces the most points. No setting moves a point further from the source edge than its own tolerance allows, so a lower detail level simplifies the shape without distorting it.
