Turning a PNG into a print-ready JPG: fill, quality and pixel count
Photo labs and print shops widely accept JPG, so a PNG from a design app or a screenshot tool is often converted before an order. Two things change. Transparent areas are filled, white by default, which matches plain paper; choose another fill only if the design should print on a colored panel. And the image is compressed again, so keep the quality slider high: the page starts at 90, and 95 to 100 costs little when the file is going to paper.
Print size comes from pixels, not from the file type. At the 300 pixels per inch many print shops ask for, a 1200 × 1800 PNG covers a 4 × 6 inch print, while a 1080-pixel social graphic stretches to only 3.6 inches before it starts to look soft. The converter keeps the PNG's pixel dimensions exactly, so check them first, and when they fall short, enlarge the artwork with the AI upscaler before converting.
If the shop takes lossless files, PNG to TIFF avoids any recompression at all. For a flyer or poster that the printer wants as a document, place the image on a PDF page instead.

- Which file types it accepts: JPG, TIFF or PDF
- Pixel width and height divided by 300 cover the print size in inches
- Former transparent areas will print in the fill color you chose

Frequently asked questions
- What quality should I use when converting PNG to JPG for print?
- Use the highest quality setting for print — printers resolve more detail than screens, so avoid heavy compression.
- Does converting PNG to JPG lose detail?
- At high quality the loss is minimal. For archival or large-format print, keep quality at or near maximum.
- Can I adjust the JPG output quality?
- Yes. Review the converted JPG result and adjust quality when that format supports it. Keep a higher setting for detail, or lower it when file size matters more.
- What happens to my PNG upload after conversion?
- The file is used only to create the requested JPG result and is automatically deleted after the temporary processing period.
