PNG to JPG for a website: lighter photos and the right fill color
This page opens with JPG as the output, quality at 90 and a white fill for transparent pixels. That suits a photo or screenshot headed for a web page, because a PNG photo is stored without loss and is often several times heavier than a JPG that looks the same at page size. JPG cannot hold transparency, so every see-through pixel takes the fill color. On a white page the default is right; on a dark or colored section, pick that section's exact background color in Settings so the edge of the image disappears into the page.
Most wasted page weight is pixels nobody sees. The converter keeps the PNG's width and height, so a 4000-pixel export from a design app is still 4000 pixels wide as a JPG. Shrink it to the width your layout displays, then read the KB figure Settings shows once the result is ready. If your theme or CMS enforces a file-size ceiling, squeeze the JPG to a target such as 200 KB.
Keep logos, icons and anything that must float over changing backgrounds out of JPG; PNG to WebP keeps the transparency and usually still trims the file. For photos, 60 to 80 is a sensible starting range. Screenshots with small colored text read better at 90 or above, where the converter keeps full color detail along sharp edges.
Check before you upload
- Former transparent edges blend with the page color instead of showing a white box
- The width matches the largest size the layout actually shows
- Small text in screenshots is still crisp when viewed at actual size

Frequently asked questions
- Why convert PNG to JPG for a website?
- JPG is broadly supported by browsers and site builders. Whether it is smaller than the PNG depends on the image, so compare the file size shown with the result and lower the quality where the format allows it if page weight matters.
- Will the JPG look the same on my site?
- For most images the difference is invisible at web sizes. Use the quality control to balance sharpness against file size.
- Is this PNG-to-JPG converter free?
- Yes — convert and download without creating an account. Your upload is auto-deleted after conversion.
- Can I adjust the JPG output quality?
- Yes. Review the converted JPG result and adjust quality when that format supports it. Keep a higher setting for detail, or lower it when file size matters more.
