Text-heavy graphics need extra care because Instagram compresses every upload again. Keep JPG quality at 90 or higher here; at those settings color is stored at full resolution around edges, which gives colored lettering a cleaner start before that second round of compression.

Then fit the shape. The Instagram resizer has presets for a 1080 × 1080 square, a 1080 × 1350 portrait (4:5), a 1080 × 608 landscape (1.91:1) and 1080 × 1920 for Stories and Reels (9:16), and it pads leftover space with a blurred copy or a solid color rather than cropping. It picks its output format from the file you upload, so a JPG goes in and a JPG comes out. A wide panorama can instead be cut into a grid of posts.
