Remove Background from Product Photos

Turning a mixed pile of product shots into one consistent catalog

Online stores rarely struggle with a single photo; the trouble is forty photos shot on different days, tables and walls. This page opens on pure white (#FFFFFF), so every product you upload lands on the same neutral backdrop for listings. Shoot each item on a surface that contrasts with it, fill most of the frame, and use window light or two lamps so the outline stays clear instead of fading into shadow. A busy background is fine; low contrast between the product and what is behind it is what causes rough edges.

For a full range, Premium batch mode takes up to 60 files in one run (200 on Pro) and returns a ZIP of PNGs. Switch on Product photos (e-commerce) and each cut-out is trimmed to its edges, centered on a square of 1,000, 1,200 or 2,000 pixels and given the same padding, so a mug and a desk lamp appear at a comparable size in the grid. Padding runs from 0 to 30 percent; lower values let products fill more of the square.

Before publishing, open a few results at full size and look at handles, gaps and shiny edges. The Refine edges brush can erase a leftover patch of table or restore a corner the AI trimmed. Then check a finished image against marketplace requirements, and if your storefront feels slow, shrink the files to a target size in KB.

Before you shoot the range

• Keep one camera height and distance for every product
• Pick a backdrop color that contrasts with the item
• Avoid hard shadows that touch the product edge
• Keep the original photos as masters in case you need larger files later
