Choose PNG over JPG when the Publisher page is mostly type, tables or flat color: a menu, a price list, a certificate, a timetable or a newsletter cover. PNG keeps small text and thin rules clean because it compresses without discarding detail, which helps when the image is shown on a TV, projected in a meeting or zoomed on a phone.

The page is rendered on an opaque white background even where the Publisher page has no fill, so the PNG is not a transparent cut-out. Only page one is converted, at 150 DPI, giving 1275 × 1650 pixels for a Letter page. If you need the other pages, convert to PDF first, then save the pages as PNG at 300 DPI for anything that will be printed.

Certificates and invitations often rely on decorative fonts. If one isn't embedded in the PUB, a look-alike takes its place, which can change how a name or heading appears, so compare carefully. To add a name or date without reopening Publisher, type it onto the PNG and download the edited copy.
