Why convert FFF to PNG?

  • PNG is supported far more widely than FFF, so the file is easier to open, share and upload.
  • PNG is made for screenshots, logos, text graphics and cut-outs.
  • No Photoshop or Lightroom needed: the file is opened on our servers and you download a ready-to-use PNG.

What to expect when converting FFF to PNG

  • The RAW file is developed at full resolution with your camera’s white balance. Keep the original FFF to re-edit exposure later.
  • Your original FFF file isn’t changed: you download a new PNG copy.

Lossless PNG files from Hasselblad FFF for layout and print work

Catalog and editorial layouts need the photo as an ordinary image file, and the designer building the pages may have no Phocus installation. A PNG from the FFF gives them the developed picture at full resolution with no JPG compression, so detail in fabric, metal and skin stays as the camera captured it.

Keep its limits in mind. The PNG stores 8 bits per color channel, so grading and highlight recovery should go back to the FFF in a RAW editor. Medium-format PNGs are also very large files; a print house that prefers TIFF can get one from this same page by switching the output format in Settings before converting.

For a client review, combine the chosen frames into one PDF so they can be flipped through in any browser. When the client only needs to look at the pictures on a phone, FFF to JPG produces much smaller files.

Before handing the PNG to a designer

  • The frame is cropped for the layout, so nobody has to place a huge file
  • Color looks right under the white balance stored at capture
  • The receiving software accepts PNG; if not, switch the output to TIFF

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert FFF to PNG?
Upload your FFF file above. It is converted to PNG automatically (change the output format or quality in the Settings tab if you need to), then click Download. There is nothing to install.
Does converting FFF to PNG lose quality?
No. Both formats are lossless, so every pixel is kept exactly.
FFF or PNG: which should I use?
Use FFF for adjusting exposure and white balance with maximum latitude. Use PNG for screenshots, logos, text graphics and cut-outs. Keep in mind the main drawback of PNG: large files for photographs.
What is a FFF file?
FFF is the RAW format Hasselblad’s Phocus software and Flextight scanners save. It stores the unprocessed sensor data for maximum editing latitude, so most apps can’t show it as a normal picture.
Can I convert FFF to PNG without Photoshop or Lightroom?
Yes. The FFF file is opened on our servers, so you don’t need Photoshop or Lightroom or any other software installed. Upload the file, then download the finished PNG.
Is the FFF to PNG converter free?
