ODG to PNG for diagrams in docs, wikis and slides

PNG is the natural image format for diagrams: flowcharts, network maps, process charts and labeled illustrations built from lines, text and flat fills. Lossless compression keeps connector lines and small labels crisp, so the diagram stays readable when someone zooms in on a wiki page or a shared document.

Only the first page is converted, at 150 DPI, and it is drawn on an opaque white page, so a diagram placed on a colored slide will show a white rectangle. For a larger, sharper version, useful when a diagram has tiny labels, convert the drawing to PDF and then export it as a PNG at 300 DPI, which doubles both dimensions.

Images that were linked into the drawing from outside the file are left out, because the converter uses only what the ODG package itself contains; embed them before uploading. When the page is much larger than the diagram, trim the extra white space so the shapes fill the image.

For JPG, BMP and image-to-PDF output, which can’t store transparency: the colour that fills transparent areas (white by default).
