Count beads in a tray from a photo
Works with JPG, PNG, WEBP · Free up to 20 MB, Premium 50 MB
Spread the beads one layer deep on a tray or flat surface and photograph from directly above — counted detections receive dots for review. Built for clubs, ranges, shops and collectors — review and correct each photo before adding it to a CSV or PDF tally.
- Review the photo, then count visible beads
- Count without marking; add example boxes if you need a guided recount
- Stop counting the same beads twice to be sure of the total

Tips for an accurate count
• Use an even, well-lit photo with the beads fully in frame
• Check that each marked example boxes a whole beads rather than a repeated part
• Dots and heatmap show retained detections — review and correct the tally
About the Beads Counter
The beads counter counts visible beads from your photo and marks detections for review. Auto mode uses the selected item name. For a guided recount, mark up to three examples of what you want counted. Visibility, overlap and similar-looking items can affect the total. Built for clubs, ranges, shops and collectors.
How It Works
1. Photograph your beads
2. Check that beads is selected, then choose Count
3. Review the markers and correct the tally; add example boxes for a guided recount if needed
4. Add to the tally sheet and export your count as CSV
Perfect For
• Craft kit preparation and packing counts
• Bulk supply verification against the order
• Workshop and classroom material planning
• Stock audits by color and size
Bead counter for kit packing, supply checks and color audits
A bead counter saves the slowest part of craft work: counting small beads into kits, checking a bulk supply against the order, planning materials for a workshop or classroom, and auditing stock by color and size. Seed beads are the hardest case because each one is tiny; larger glass, wood and acrylic beads count much more easily from one tray photo.
Spread the beads on a bead mat or a piece of felt, which stops them rolling, in one layer with small gaps. For seed beads, get the phone close enough that each bead is clearly drawn and photograph a portion rather than the whole pile; on the free plan the photo is counted at web size, so a close shot or a tight crop with the image cropper makes a real difference. Choose a mat that contrasts with the beads: dark for clear, white and pastel beads, light for black and metallic ones.
A mixed lot takes up to three colors or sizes as Similar items examples, with the Found per example rows showing each share. For seed beads in Distinct objects mode, keep Ignore small detections at Off and move Detection sensitivity toward Smaller items. Strung beads touch along the thread, so lay the strand straight and check its markers closely. Sewing buttons and marbles use the same tray approach.
Bead tray checks
- Felt or a bead mat so beads stay in place
- One layer with small gaps, seed beads shot in portions
- A mat color that contrasts with the beads
- Each color in its own example box, three at most per count
Frequently asked questions
- Do the items need to be separated before counting?
- Slight touching can work, but full overlaps hide items and make the result less reliable. Spread them one layer deep under even light, mark a clear example, and review every result marker.
- What if the photo has more than just beads in it?
- Auto mode uses the selected item name to find what to count. For a guided recount, mark one complete, clearly visible beads — up to 3 examples for different-looking kinds. Similar-looking distractors can still affect the result, so review every marker before using the total.
- Can I count several photos into one total?
- Yes — count each photo and add every reviewed result to the tally sheet as a labelled row. If you use example boxes, mark them separately on each photo. Export the tally as CSV or a PDF report, or save it to your account.
- Is it free and private?
- Yes. You can count, review and download a free result without an account. Downloads are free without a watermark. No signup required. Server-processed photos are encrypted in transit and removed under our Security policy.
