Count bearings in a tray from a photo
Works with JPG, PNG, WEBP · Free up to 20 MB, Premium 50 MB
Spread the bearings one layer deep on a tray or flat surface and photograph from directly above — counted detections receive dots for review. Built for factories, fastener suppliers and maintenance stores — review and correct each photo before adding it to a CSV or PDF tally.
- Review the photo, then count visible bearings
- Count without marking; add example boxes if you need a guided recount
- Stop counting the same bearings twice to be sure of the total

Tips for an accurate count
• Use an even, well-lit photo with the bearings fully in frame
• Check that each marked example boxes a whole bearings rather than a repeated part
• Dots and heatmap show retained detections — review and correct the tally
About the Bearings Counter
The bearings counter counts visible bearings from your photo and marks detections for review. Auto mode uses the selected item name. For a guided recount, mark up to three examples of what you want counted. Visibility, overlap and similar-looking items can affect the total. Built for factories, fastener suppliers and maintenance stores.
How It Works
1. Photograph your bearings
2. Check that bearings is selected, then choose Count
3. Review the markers and correct the tally; add example boxes for a guided recount if needed
4. Add to the tally sheet and export your count as CSV
Perfect For
• Stores counts of high-value spare parts
• Goods-in verification against the purchase order
• Maintenance kit preparation before a shutdown
• Stock figures for a spares reconciliation
Counting bearings and other high-value spares from a tray photo
Bearings are expensive enough that a short count matters, which is why maintenance stores count them before a planned shutdown, check them against a purchase order and reconcile spares between audits. Much of the time they arrive boxed, and a boxed bearing is a carton count; this page is for loose bearings laid out on a bench or tray.
Lay each bearing flat on a face so the inner and outer rings show as two circles; a bearing standing on edge looks like a short bar and can be missed. Polished steel reflects everything around it, so a light tent or a cloudy-day window works better than a desk lamp. Sealed bearings with colored shields and open bearings with visible balls look quite different from above, so mark one of each as Similar items examples. Loose steel balls are a separate item: mark a single ball if that is what you need counted.
With the markers checked, label the tally row with the bearing size and part number so the CSV lines up with the stores system, and sign in to save the stock-take for the next audit. Stock still in its boxes is counted on a shelf face with the box counter, and springs from the same spares kit can go in as extra rows.
Before you count bearings
- Bearings flat on a face, none on edge
- Soft, even light rather than one bright lamp
- One size and type per photo, or one example per type
- Part number written into the tally row label
Frequently asked questions
- Do the items need to be separated before counting?
- Slight touching can work, but full overlaps hide items and make the result less reliable. Spread them one layer deep under even light, mark a clear example, and review every result marker.
- What if the photo has more than just bearings in it?
- Auto mode uses the selected item name to find what to count. For a guided recount, mark one complete, clearly visible bearings — up to 3 examples for different-looking kinds. Similar-looking distractors can still affect the result, so review every marker before using the total.
- Can I count several photos into one total?
- Yes — count each photo and add every reviewed result to the tally sheet as a labelled row. If you use example boxes, mark them separately on each photo. Export the tally as CSV or a PDF report, or save it to your account.
- Is it free and private?
- Yes. You can count, review and download a free result without an account. Downloads are free without a watermark. No signup required. Server-processed photos are encrypted in transit and removed under our Security policy.
