Why convert EPS to PNG?

  • PNG is supported far more widely than EPS, so the file is easier to open, share and upload.
  • PNG is made for screenshots, logos, text graphics and cut-outs.
  • No Illustrator needed: the file is opened on our servers and you download a ready-to-use PNG.

What to expect when converting EPS to PNG

  • The EPS is drawn at a fixed pixel size, so the PNG won’t stay sharp if you enlarge it later. Keep the original for editing.
  • Your original EPS file isn’t changed: you download a new PNG copy.

What to expect from an EPS converted to PNG

People convert EPS to PNG mostly for logos and illustrations headed for slides, documents and web pages, often hoping for a transparent background. The honest catch: the converter draws the EPS onto a solid white page, so the PNG is opaque, with white wherever the artwork has no ink. In return, PNG compresses without loss, so lettering and flat brand colors keep clean edges with none of the blur JPG adds.

The crop follows the bounding box saved in the EPS, and every inch of that box becomes 150 pixels. When a designer's box is larger than the visible artwork, white margins remain; crop them off before placing the logo. To get a transparent version, cut the white background away and then check thin strokes and the insides of letters such as o and e, where white is most likely to linger.

When the PNG is too small for its job, don't stretch it. Turn the EPS into a vector PDF, then export that page as a PNG at 200 or 300 DPI; at 300 DPI a 2-inch logo becomes 600 pixels wide. For a version that printers can scale freely, the PDF itself is usually the better file to pass on.
