  • PNG is made for screenshots, logos, text graphics and cut-outs.
  • No Photoshop or Lightroom needed: the file is opened on our servers and you download a ready-to-use PNG.

What to expect when converting RWL to PNG

RWL to PNG for prints, frames and photo books

When a travel shot from a D-Lux or V-Lux is heading for a framed print or a photo book, PNG keeps the developed image exact while you crop, add borders and arrange pages, without the small loss a JPG takes on every re-save. You can still hand the lab a JPG at the end; the PNG is the copy you work on.

Expect an opaque, 8-bit PNG, developed with the white balance stored in the file and automatic brightness, without the camera's film mode. It will be several times the size of a JPG of the same frame, and there is no quality setting to change that, because PNG is lossless.

For a print, add a border around the picture so the frame or mat does not cover the edges; for a page in a book, lay several shots out on one page. If the lab asks for a size in pixels, resize the finished image to match before ordering.

RWL or PNG: which should I use?

Yes. The RWL file is opened on our servers, so you don’t need Photoshop or Lightroom or any other software installed. Upload the file, then download the finished PNG.
Is the RWL to PNG converter free?
