Counting tires in stacks, racks and scrap piles
Tire depots, fitting bays, wholesalers and scrap collectors all count tires: stock by size, goods-in against an order, and part-worn or scrap tires before a collection. Tires lying flat in a stack hide each other from above, so shoot the stack from the side, where each tread shows as a band. In racks, tires stand on their treads in rows; photograph the rack face so every sidewall is visible.
Black rubber on a black or shaded floor loses its edges, so light the stack from the side or move it into daylight. Wide and narrow tires in one stack make bands of different heights; mark one of each width when the first result looks off. The sizes molded on the sidewalls are not read by the counter, so keep each size in its own bay or stack and count them one at a time. Scrap piles are jumbled, and any count of a heap is a rough estimate; spread the tires out when a firm figure matters.
Label each tally row with the size or bay and export the CSV for the stock system or a disposal record. For a mixed stockroom of wheels, batteries and parts, the inventory counter suggests what to count from each photo. Cylinders kept in the same yard are covered on the gas cylinder counter.
Frequently asked questions
- Can it count a full stack when some items are hidden?
- It can only estimate the visible photo content. For regular stacks, photograph and review each accessible face, correct the tally, and treat any multiplication by depth as an estimate. A marked image supports review but does not prove the physical quantity.
- Stacked or racked tyres — which counts better?
- Both work: racked tyres count like a shelf face; vertical stacks count from the side where each sidewall is visible. For tall stacks, photograph each stack and let the tally sheet add them up.
- What if the photo has more than just tyres in it?
- The counter automatically looks for tyres in your photo. Similar-looking distractors can still affect the result, so review every marker before using the total.
- Can I count several photos into one total?
- Yes — count each photo and add every reviewed result to the tally sheet as a labelled row. Export the tally as CSV or a PDF report, or save it to your account.
- Is it free and private?
- Yes. You can count, review and download a free result without an account. Downloads are free without a watermark. No signup required. Server-processed photos are encrypted in transit and removed under our Security policy.
